‘Dear God’ by Claudia Newby-Tynes

I asked readers and authors to write a short story or poem to this prompt: His misty black eyes pierced her soul and caused her body to tremble. He began to speak.

His misty black eyes pierced her soul and caused her body to tremble. “Oh Lord, what have I done? Why is he so angry with me?” she uttered beneath her breath. With every fiber of her being, she needed answers.
Moments ago, everything was perfect. His strong, muscular arms held her tightly. Her long, slender legs were wrapped around his as they reclined on the soft-leather loveseat. Suddenly… there’s that look again! She was madly in love with her man…the man she says God gave to her. They were a match made in heaven she thought.
“What did I say? What did I do?” She mumbled, trying to keep her sanity and not fall apart completely because he had repeated similar behavior towards her.
He hurriedly left, slamming the door behind him. She arose from the sofa and walked over to her cornered-desk. She grabbed her leather-bound journal with an attached pen and wrote a “Dear God” letter. She had struggled far too long to make their relationship work on her terms; and each time it worsened. After completing her letter, she closed her journal, and listened for God to speak. Will she heed to God’s or her own voice this time?
