Tell us about your book, Typical Hood Story: 2 Raw and Uncut Stories
Why did you decide to write it? This is a collaboration with my ex-love, Ivan Marrick. Despite our ups and downs in romance, we are really great business partners and we both had a hood tale we wanted to write. They are short stories and we just said we were going to go for it and write our tales from the hood.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part about being an author is I get to tell stories and draw readers into my stories.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
I think the worst part of being an author is when people try to box you and try to project their issues onto you. Typical Hood Story is not for everyone, I will be the first to say it. We indicate it in the title with “2 Raw and Uncut Stories.” So, there’s no need for anyone to say, “I can’t believe the language and situations,” because this book comes with a warning label.
Who is your favorite character in the book, and why?
Wow, this is hard because there are 2 short stories in this book. However, I’m going to go with my character, Aris. Aris is living a hard lifestyle but you see her make a turn. I think her unpredictability makes her my favorite character in the book.
What was the hardest part of writing the story?
The hardest part of writing a story is deciding what goes on the chopping block. Not everything makes it to the final print. Some of those things sometimes get saved for another project or are altogether scrapped.
If you were to write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
My Love Won’t Last Forever Part I is the book. I’m actually in the process of revamping it. It was initially released in 2008.
What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?
I was a teacher for over twenty years.
What are you currently working on right now?
I am working on rewriting My Love Won’t Last Forever Part I and My Love Won’t Last Forever Part II.
