Tell us about your book, Tickle Mites the Adventures of R.A.R Rocky, AJ, and Ramello.
This book is about three boys who love being together. They are at AJ’s birthday party. Before AJ blows out the candles, all three boys simultaneously make a wish that all children can be as happy as they are when they’re together. During the wish frosting splashes on all three boys’ faces, which evokes candy characters called Tickle Mites. When the boys see a child sad, they sing a jingle that turns them into candy. Only children can see them as Tickle Mites, not adults. The adults-only see Rocky, AJ, and Ramello as themselves. The book deals with subjects like bullying, racism, stereotyping, giving, and kindness.
Why did you decide to write it?
I wrote this book as a tribute to my grandsons’ heroic personalities. Also, to give them books for them with superhero characters that look like them. Lastly of course to make children laugh.
What’s the best part of being an author?
The best part about being an author is I love the characters I create.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
The worst part about being an author is not having more time to write.
Who is your favorite character in the book, and why?
My favorite characters in the book are my grandsons of course. The characters in the book are a true rendition of who my grandsons are; funny, goofy, and giving.
What was the hardest part of writing the story?
The hardest part about writing this story is it took me too long to get it published. I had no resources and no experience. God brought all the pieces together.
If you were to write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
If I were to write a book about my life the title would be “Girl, Trust God and Get Going”! If I heard that long ago, I would be much farther ahead in business and writing.
What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?
Readers would be surprised to know that I have a real estate license in escrow in my hometown.
What are you currently working on right now?
I am currently working on a series of cute quirky songs for my Buddernut Series, a third song for Tickle Mites, and the second volume of Tickle Mites Adventures book.
