Book Spotlight – Found – Danyelle Scroggins

Found is the story of Gotrell and Paisley. He’s a visiting preacher at Faltime Baptist Church. Gotrell is sitting in his car on the parking lot when this woman, with her two daughters, pulls up beside him. When he sees her do some of the same things his mother did, he becomes curious about Paisley as a woman, and a mother.

My favorite character in this story is Paisley. I believe she shows a side of vulnerability that so many women have. Then, I wanted to highlight how some exes feel like they can control their old partner or the narratives of their lives because of the children. I think she’s the perfect picture of a peacemaker…at least in her own mind.

The hardest part of Found was writing about Found is Paisley’s ex-husband. He was a monster. However, women will never learn that they can be free unless someone writes the narratives of their story.

The book I’d write about my life would be, She’s Dying, but Finally Alive. I’d choose this title because as women, we can be alive in one aspect but dead in others. Well, I’m learning each day how to kill my flesh and live a life unto the Lord. I finally realize how beautiful it is to live a life in Christ, because the reality is, until you die to self, you will never live.

The one surprising thing about me is, I fight daily not to be the person I used to be.

I’m currently working on the Logansport River Series.
