Book Spotlight – Scarred – Roe Braddy

Tell us about your book, Scarred.

Scarred is the first of a three-book series. The name of the series is the Warm Heart Series. The series is three novellas that take place in the 60s during the Jim Crow era in the south.

Why did you decide to write it?

I decided to write this series because of the stories that my parents told me when I was a young girl.

What’s the best part of being an author?

The best part of being an author is when someone tells you that they have enjoyed your writing.

What’s the worst part of being an author?

The worst part of being a writer is when you are stuck on the story and the characters stop speaking to you.

Who is your favorite character in the book, and why?

My favorite character in the book is Mathias. My father’s name was Mathias. This character is a lot like my father. My mother always said that he was her heartthrob.

What was the hardest part of writing the story?

The hardest part of writing this story was thinking about some of the hard things that happened during the Jim Crow era.

What are you currently working on right now?

I am releasing a poetry book in August: Fried Okra and Green Tomato Poetry. It is currently on preorder on Amazon.com.
