Which five words best describe Complicated Simplicity?
Sweet, alluring, romantic, spiritual, funny
Can you share one highlight from the book?
This time they embraced and there was no mistake when they kissed. It was purposeful. Serenity closed her eyes so that the fireworks wouldn’t startle her this time. She peeked mid-kiss and it was as if the sky opened up and the sun was shining down on them right there in the middle of her living room at midnight. Pulling away from him because she didn’t know what to make of it, she chuckled.
What is the purpose of this book?
One thing I hope people can take away from this book is that you should always go with your gut. Love can be found in the scariest of places. But also, I wrote this book in particular for my mother. Most (probably all) of my books have explicit sexual content. For that reason, my mother was a bit reluctant to read any of them. This particular book does not, purposely so she could enjoy at least one of my books in its entirety.
Are there themes that you find turn up again and again in your work? A common thread?
Commonly, there’s a strong woman who is unapologetic about who she is or what she does. They challenge the “norm”.
Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? Which part was the hardest?
The most fun part to write for me was the vacation scene. From the unexpected delay to the surprise at the end. Picturing the water huts in Tahiti and how the characters enjoyed themselves there.
Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?
I’m an avid reader and I got to the genre is usually paranormal or fantasy.
