Book Spotlight – Wealth of Lies (The Reflections Series Book 2) Natasha Hughes-Smith

Tell us about your book, Wealth of Lies.

It’s the story of a young woman, Josephine, who wants to be her own person outside of the shadow of her mother. She wants to escape her community and create a new life. When she meets Bernard, she finds everything she wants in a man but their secrets threatens their happiness.

Why did you decide to write it?

I thought about a line from a character in Reflections; he said that their family was built on a foundation of lies. So, I contemplated what those lies could be and decided to write the prequel, Wealth of Lies.

What’s the best part of being an author?

Sharing my stories with the world and creating a legacy.

What’s the worst part of being an author?

Some readers will not try new authors.

Who is your favorite character in the book, and why?

Bernard Barrington is my favorite. He’s handsome, kind, rich, respectful, thoughtful, and open-minded. He’s everything a woman would want.

What was the hardest part of writing the story?

Ideas will come to me out of nowhere and if I don’t jot them down, I forget them just as fast.

If you were to write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?

See Me

For many years, I have felt overlooked and unseen. It is a constant battle to squash those feelings and to remind myself of the value I possess regardless of what anyone else might think or say.

What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?

I love DC superheroes.

What are you currently working on right now?

I am currently working on the fourth installment of the Reflections Series.
