Which five words best describe Lucy’s Faith? Heartfelt, life lesson, growth, new faith, and forgiveness.
Can you share one highlight from the book? Lucy grows up in book 2 in the short story series Lucy Mason. She will undergo therapy, find her faith, find forgiveness, and mature.
What is the purpose of this book? The purpose of this particular book is to help some young or seasoned woman to understand never lose faith, forgiveness is for you not for the other person, and we all make mistakes but they are to make us stronger. It’s okay to talk to someone about our pain and trauma.
Are there themes that you find turn up again and again in your work? Yes with this particular series. It’s sending a message that will encourage and be a light for someone who will listen. A common thread? Yes, it’s in my spirit to help our young people because they are the future.
Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? I truly enjoyed writing about Lucy’s moments of healing as she participates in therapy. I loved writing the prayer she prays in the story that reminded me of a younger me. Which part was the hardest? Some of the dialogue was hard because I had to make sure I was not offending any of my readers in those particular categories. This genre was VERY new to me so learning what I can say and what I cannot say was a challenge that resulted in many rewrites.
Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you? When I was younger, I wanted to be an attorney like Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. She was the bomb.com that was a very positive image for me to see a Black Woman in a more professional role. But that would not last since I VERY outspoken woman who probably would be held in contempt of court. Smile!
