Book Spotlight – Lucy’s Worth (book 1)-Letrise T Carter

How do you get the idea for your book?

-The idea for the short story series Lucy Mason came about when I took Walter Mosley’s Master Writing class. He gave an assignment for us to write a short story every day for 30 days. I was trying to find my writing mojo after going through chemotherapy for the first time from Sept 2019 to January 2020.  I need to find my love of writing and it was taking writing classes that helped me to brainstorm stories and this story came to life by accident.  I was trying to write a romance short story but God had another plan for me to get this story out of my heart and head.

What is your favorite line from your book question?

I don’t have a favorite line because I love the entire story. However, I do love the fact she finds her worth to know she don’t deserve someone to hurt her.  It was a point in the story where she had her wake up moment that I pray any woman in her situation can get to that place Lucy found her worth.

Which of your characters do you believe are most like you and why question?

I was more like Carol, the big sister always coming to rescue of one of my friends or siblings. I am the protector and problem solver in the family. That is why Carol and I are most alike.

What message do you hope readers will take away from your book?

I want readers to take away that you are worthy of love and love yourself first. Most importantly, love should not physically or verbally hurt you. Learn to walk away, you only get one you.

How did you get published?

Self- Publish on KDP available eBook or paperback.

What have been your greatest literary accomplishments?

My greatest accomplishments in the four years that I have been an author is finding a mentor in literary who gives me resources and advice on my writing.

Do you have any new books in the works?

I am working on the final book in the Lucy Mason series titled Lucy’s Heart set to release sometime in January.

Is there anything else you would like the readers to know?

I plan to write children stories someday now that I am officially in the G-mom club aka Nana Letrise.
