Which five words best describe Not that Nice?
Suspenseful, twisty, contemporary, dramatic, and a fun short story.
Can you share one highlight from the book?
“And that’s how I got a date out of her,” Alex concluded his tale by leaning over and kissing Kelsee. “I only had to save her life.”
What is the purpose of this book?
This story was initially a part of an anthology. The overall theme for the stories was “Spice” and I took the kernel of an idea and created a short story.
Are there themes that you find turn up again and again in your work? A common thread?
Oh yes. The theme that turns up in my work is marriage and what happens after the “I Do’s”. Not everyone gets to happily ever after and I like to explore the myriad reasons things can go astray.
Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? Which part was the hardest?
The most fun character was Kelsee. The lady has issues. The hardest part was getting her occupation (ER nurse) right. It took some research to make sure activities were authentic.
Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?
When I have to make a presentation, I recite the lyrics to Beyonce’s “Formation”. Something about repeating, “I slay, I slay, all day” will get you past the jitters.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
This was a fun story to write. I hope they enjoy it. And please leave a review. 😎
