Tell us about your book Why Yes To God.
Why Yes to God is a book of essays by young adults, who share their experiences with life that made them seek a relationship with God. The essays are written anonymously, and after each essay there are study scriptures and questions for exploration.
Why did you decide to write it?
I had just started a young adult ministry, and I asked myself why they would be interested in God. I didn’t want to force them to choose God for my reasons; I wanted them to examine scripture, explore spiritual foundations and decide to choose or not for themselves. It was the foundational guide for our ministry.
The essays written by the participants in the study group let them explore their past relationships with both God and the church, or the lack thereof, and to examine why they never entered or left that relationship. Their essays allowed them to explore their journey for themselves, and to share it with others, and the scriptures introduced them to Bible study and spiritual development. Finally, it helps them to choose God and not be forced.
What’s the best part of being an author?
Putting ideas into the universe that can potentially change, or at least enlighten, the life of someone who needs it.
What’s the worst part of being an author?
Prioritizing both your ideas for books and the time to complete them. Oh yes, and the marketing.
Who is your favorite character in the book, and why?
While there are not true characters, Timothy from the Bible is the main character, as the first section of the book will explain.
What was the hardest part of writing the story?
It came naturally. That is the wonderful part of exploring, accepting, and walking in purpose. God supplies all you need for success. You just must be obedient.
If you were to write a book about your life, what would the title be and why?
If it was autobiographical probably something like – God’s Ms Anyhow – I am focused and practicing how to do whatever God tells me to do, and even whatever I think God is leading me to do, regardless of how feel. The journey to this was long, challenging and often painful but well worth it.
What is something readers would be surprised to know about you?
I LOVE food!
What are you currently working on right now?
In the midst of all of the other things I am engaged in, I am working on my fifth book, and launching, well relaunching, my young adult ministry. We have our annual Making Life Work Conference coming up soon and I am super excited.

Life is challenging, and life is wonderful and being with God is worth both.
