NiaShanta Ross is an international educator, avid reader, and a fresh new voice in the Christian Fiction world. Her debut fiction work, Worth the Wait (2016), received stellar reviews, and has cemented NiaShanta into the inspirational genre. NiaShanta is not entirely new to the writing world; Her personal memoir, The Five Men of My Life: What They Taught Me and What I Learned, was self-published in 2008. Additionally, NiaShanta was one of twenty mothers chosen to contribute to ReShonda Tate Billingsley’s anthology, Motherhood Diaries 2, published through Brown Girls Books in 2014. When she’s not writing, she is a high school English and Spanish teacher.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling, binge-watching her favorite series, and spending time with her family and friends.
1. Tell me more about your latest book
My latest book is entitled Worth the Wait. It is a Christian Fiction Romance. Below is the official synopsis of the book:

2. What is your genre?
Christian Fiction
3. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
My characters are flawed. In Christian Fiction, there is this notion that people are supposed to perfect, which we know is not at all possible. My characters struggle with their faith, at times, but I think that’s what makes them human and relatable.
4. What motivated you to become an author?
I’ve loved writing since I was a little girl. I decided to finally use the gift that God gave me.
5. What brought you to write this book?
This book is fiction, but it’s very loosely based on my life as I navigated my singleness.
6. How many books have you written so far?
Including Worth the Wait, I have authored two, and contributed to an anthology. I just completed the sequel to Worth the Wait, entitled Worth Fighting For, that will hopefully be released this year.
7. What book or books had a strong influence on you and your writing?
I love all things Christian Fiction and Christian Romance. I have my favorite authors that I follow, and at the risk of missing someone, I won’t list them. Too many to name. LOL
8. How hard is it to establish in your genre?
The genre is pretty saturated, but I believe that there is room for us all. We all have a unique spin and voice that we add to our work.
9. Where do you love to write?
I used to love to write in my office, but now I can pretty much write anywhere in my home.
10. Where do you get your ideas from?
My ideas tend to come from personal experiences, or are literally breathed on me by the Holy Spirit. I put my fingers and the keyboard, and He takes over.
11. What is your favorite fiction book?
