Book Spotlight – Letters for Santa by Linda Leigh Hargrove

Letters From Santa is book two in the Southern Christmas Lights series. It’s the story of Chelsea’s white friend Monica who is recovering from being dumped by her fiancé.Monica,

Monica is the sheltered daughter of a successful car dealer in the quaint (fictional) town of Wake City. She’s used to being the town darling, living her best life on the ‘right side of the tracks’. A series of personal discoveries rock her world. When an attraction develops between her and her father’s new chef, Ciro Fields, she’s not sure what to do.

One of my favorite scenes in this book was the when she realizes for the first time in her life what it is to be the only white person in the room. She’s challenged by it, but to her credit, she doesn’t shy away. Ciro helps her unpack her feelings. I want people to enjoy this as fun Christmas story but to also pause and consider what Christmas means to different cultures in America. I explore this through an inter-racial love story. This is not a happily-ever-after kind of romance, but it does end on a good note.happily ever.
