Santa’s Secret is my first Christmas-themed romance novella. It was self-published in in 2017. I was encouraged to write the book by fellow author Pat Simmons. The characters and themes in the book, though, were inspired by real people and events. For instance, the main male character (an ex-NFL player who picks an unlikely career path after football) is patterned after the life of Myron Rolle.
In order to write the male character well, I not only studied Myron Rolle’s life before, during, and after football. I even started following him on Instagram. He’s a good looking man so that was very easy.
My favorite scene to write was the chocolate syrup scene in which the Marc Waterman calls Chelsea Parker his angel.
I want people to take away some holiday cheer and a reminder that even though a person has a bad past it doesn’t mean they will have a ruined life.
