What five words best describe The Winter Years?

Innovative, Deep, Faith-filled, Stirring, Powerful

Can you share one highlight from this book?

The title poem is dedicated to my teacher and mentor, Mary Ellen MacGregor. It is a simple piece about aging and preparing to meet eternity.

What is the purpose of this book?

To entertain and to share my heart with those who love contemporary poetry in its various forms is the purpose of this book. It is meant to show forth many different styles and forms of poetry from aroundthe world. It is dedicated to my departed parents, Wilbur and Mary Goggins. I wanted to do something that would move readers young and old.

Are there themes that turn up again and again in your work/? A common thread?

I am a Christian author and songwriter. I love writing about everyday people and places. I take on great issues like love, death, friendship. I describe nature. I learn from the greats. Faith is the key element in my work. It is positive, uplifting, and fun.

Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? Which part was the hardest?

The cover of the book is a design that is creativity at its best. It is midnight blue with snowflakes dancing in the sky. It has a couple bent over and hovering under the midnight sky. It speaks of aging and compares it to the winter season in the earth, which we must all go through. The book was not hard to write. The editing took some time. Poetry can be difficult for some to read. But the pieces vary in length and demeanor. It was not hard to
come up with the title. That poem is one of my favorites.

Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?

I write and read voraciously. But I like others. I hope you will like me, too. I want to share from my heart to yours, and inspire you to think and meditate on the world around you. I have been doing this for over forty years. I enjoy poetry readings and book signings. I like reviewing and dialoguing with others. Your feedback is important to me. Give me a review on Amazon.
