Book Spotlight – Amazing Grace My Journey into God’s unmerited Favor by Troy Barnes

Tell us about your latest book.

Amazing Grace is a memoir of my life and the different events that took place at times where I was faced with struggle and hardship. It’s my story about how I had to seek God for how to get through difficult points in my life and how he brought me through them with I would seek Him (in most cases seek Him only). It chronicles the last 7 years but I also added a few things from the past that I was impacted by leading up to my journey to and through moving to California in 2017.

What do you want readers to learn from the story?

First thing would be to lead them to a relationship with Christ which is the ultimate and second would be all the benefits from it. With the way the world is today I can’t see how anyone could go without seeking Him and having faith in Him and his word.

What do you want readers to learn from your life?

I just want readers to know that God is no respecter of persons and whatever he’s done for me he will do for you and even much more. All he requires is faith in him for that’s what the bible says “without faith it’s impossible to please him” Hebrew 11:6. His grace (unmerited favor) is there for you no matter what you’re going through or dealing with in life. Just seek him but seek him first (Matthew 6:33).

Who is your favorite author and why?

Don’t really have a favorite author. I’ve not been a big reader of books in the past although I would read some either faith based or about sports.

Tell me about a book that changed your life and why?

Probably a book called Unmerited Favor by Pastor Joseph Prince because it completely changed the way I looked at Christ as well as Christianity as a whole and made me realize just how much God loves us, why Jesus died for us and while we can have a relationship with him not just a bunch of rules. It made me truly look at God as a father and me as his son as well as it brought John 3:16 and 17 to a whole new light for me.

What advice do you have for people who want to write a book?

One, Seek wise counsel. Share your story or what you’re writing about with a few people you trust to give you their honest opinion. From there you’ll know if you really should do it or not. Two, speak from the heart, don’t be afraid to be transparent because that’s what will truly help others especially those going through tough times.

What are you currently working on right now?

Promotions, book signing and speaking engagements for the book. Now that it’s out I look forward to sharing this with anyone who will listen or in need.

Do you have anything you would like to add?

I would say just to anyone who may be facing challenging or difficult times in today’s world to learn about God’s word and get to know what his promises are. 3 John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers”. God’s not mad as his children waiting to strike us down, he loves us and only wants his best for us. In order to know what his best is we have to know His word. When we get to know him even in our most challenging times what happens in us will always be greater than the things that happen to you. He wants us blessed so we can then turn and be a blessing to others.
