Author Spotlight – Troy Barnes

How long have you been writing?

Less than 2 years. This is my first book ever.

What motivated you to start writing?

People that were hearing my testimony and the things happening were telling me I should. Also when I would tell my testimony just seeing the responses and how people were reacting to it I could tell God was using me and it was helping and building people’s faith. That’s something much needed especially with everything going on the world today.

What is your preferred genre?

I would say non-fiction.

How many books do you have published?

Just one so far.

What are you currently working on?

Just working on promotions for the book.

Where can readers find your books?

You can find it online at both Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Which authors inspire you to write?

I honestly can’t say I was inspired by any authors in particular. I was more inspired by the journey I feel I’ve been on.

What are your future works in progress?

Promotions, book signing and speaking engagements for the book. Now that it’s out I look forward to sharing this with anyone who will listen or in need.

What inspired you to become an author?

Probably going back to the second question, just the responses and feedback I was getting from people who heard my testimony.

Who has the greatest influence on your writing style?

I really don’t have a who other than I just wrote how it was in my heart. Inspiration from God is all I can say on this one.

Tell us about your writing style?

The way I wrote it was like narrating a movie or documentary because that’s the way it came to me once I finally sat down and started writing. It just all flowed from there.

What is your greatest challenge as an author?

I would have to say just sitting down and getting started on writing. If you already have the inspiration or story in you then once you actually sit down to start writing everything should just flow out from there.

Tell us something that people may not know about you that they might find interesting.

Probably that I never get homesick. While I’m from Ohio and miss it there at certain times I LOVE living in California. I love the fact Cali is now home but I can go back to Ohio whenever I need or want to. It’s a blessing.

Is there anything you would like for readers to know?

I just want readers to know that God is no respecter of persons and whatever he’s done for me he will do for you and more. All he requires is faith in him for that’s what the bible says “without faith it’s impossible to please him” Hebrew 11:6. His grace (unmerited favor) is there for you no matter what you’re going through or dealing with in life. Just seek him but seek him first (Matthew 6:33).

  1. Loved the book. It inspired me and compelled me to take a step back to look at my inner circle of friends and family. God has a plan and we are definitely a part of it. God Bless you Troy and I look forward to the next book.
