Queenie’s Review
This story was very heartfelt. I could relate to the characters. I love all the characters except Rene’s husband. I laughed, cried, cheered, and was disappointed. These characters had me in my feelings. The couples I fell in love with because the situations and experiences were familiar to me. The characters could have been my next-door neighbors. This story was family-oriented and some of the characters were members of a church.
When I started reading this book I didn’t want to put the book down. Sometimes when I was reading I was late clocking out of work because I didn’t want to put the book down. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The message I took away from the reading of the story is to have faith in God, wait on God, and let go, let God. The title Miss Sadie’s Song really tied into the storyline. I love how the author related the song “Sadie” in the end. Great touch.
The themes of this story were illnesses in the family, young marriages, abuse, death, love of God, families, siblings, and domestic violence. The dialogue between the characters was funny, serious, and relatable. I enjoyed the lively conversations between the couples in the story. The plot had a lot of twists and turns. At first, I thought this was going to happen but something else took place. I predicted one thing and it turned out to be something different. This book will keep you on your toes and turn the pages quickly to see what happens next. The writing style was clear and precise. I could understand what the author was trying to convey.
I recommend this book to all avid book lovers. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I give this book 5 stars.
