A Winter’s Tale Series Book I
A Contemporary Soap Opera
Charlotte Toutant has always been a woman who played by the rules; however, after catching her younger sister and college sweetheart turned fiancé in bed together, her perfectly planned life is turned upside down. With no one to turn to and no place to call home, Charlotte embarks on a new adventure, leaving Baltimore, Maryland for the Big Apple. But Charlotte soon learns that running away from her problems doesn’t make them magically disappear, especially when past broken relationships threaten to destroy more than just her sanity.
Nicholas Elliot, Upper East Side, prep boy, has always succeeded at acquiring his heart’s desires. Being born into a life of luxury, nothing has ever been withheld from him, until now. From the moment Charlotte entered his office, Nicholas knew that she was the One. Whether it was love at first sight or intense sexual attraction, he didn’t know, nor did he care; regardless of what it was, it caused a yearning that he had never felt before. But Nicholas’ initial intentions of an office love affair quickly shifts when he discovers what the exotic beauty really needs is a friend.
And perhaps a winter’s kiss . . .
WARNING: This book ends with a cliff hanger.
This story is about Charlotte “Dimples” Toulant who has been hurt by her ex-fiance and her family to the 10th power. Charlotte has been “running” for years and now it’s time to face the facts. The characters are very relatable and detailed. The topics are sibling rivalry, abandonment, betrayal, hurt, fear, dishonesty, and workplace relationships. I love Charlotte’s sister Angeline. She was on point and blunt about everything. The least favorite characters were Charlotte’s parents, especially the mother. What in the world was wrong with her mother? I don’t even want to call her a mother. I love how descriptive the author told the story. I felt like I was in the story with the characters.
I have never heard of this author before but I am ready to read the second book in the series. I was hooked on the first page and had to put it down because it was time to go to bed. This book will have you on the edge of your seat. I loved the storyline. I do recommend this book. I give this book five stars.
