The five words that describe ‘Stripped to my Truth’ are:
Can you share one highlight from the book?
“No one deserves to be held prisoner within themselves. That’s a prison that is not meant to be or can ever be easily broken. I couldn’t run from it, no matter how much I tried. I couldn’t barter with myself to get out because I already knew what I had to offer. And pretending that it isn’t there only tightened the confinements that I was in. “
What is the purpose of this book?
The purpose of this book is to be a guide for others to take a more meaningful look into their own life. To be able to pinpoint their own indiscretions. The purpose of this book is to also be a source of intentional healing and relatability in knowing that whoever reads it, is not alone in whatever they may be going through and experiencing in life. It is to show and model transparency in its rawest form.
Are there themes that you find turn up again and again in your work? A common thread?
I’d definitely say that there is a theme of radical transparency which is a way for me to effectively relate to my audience by revealing my inner being and both, past and current experiences. The common thread of it all is my willingness to expose my vulnerabilities, my fears, my points of view and all of the things that have allowed me to gain the courage and strength necessary to either overcome or to be able to use the will obtained to keep fighting. My aim is to openly encourage my readers to express and relate to what they are reading.
Which character or part of the book was the most fun to write? Which part was the hardest?
The part of my book that was the most fun to write was some of the pre-pubescent days of my younger self. Just remembering and documenting the foolish and silly (yet still hilariously, funny) mistakes I made as a child. It wasn’t as funny to me then, but I can say, with all honesty, I’ve been able to look back at some of those things and have a good laugh. The hardest part to write was re-living the memory of losing my first-born son all over again. Being a child who was having a child and processing that he wouldn’t make it is something that never really gets any easier.
Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?
Something my loyal fans don’t know about me? Hmmmm…..I lead with my heart. I do consider myself a very logical and sometimes very analytical thinker. However, if it doesn’t feel right within my heart, I won’t do it. No matter what decision it is.
