Synopsis:
Religion is often a sensitive topic to talk about. No one ever wants to talk about the elephant in the room. The media, and even religion itself, causes us to have a perception about others instead of getting to know a person for who they are not what or who they associate themselves with. I want to challenge you with this book to be a better human being in how you treat others as well as provide comfort to those who are trying to find themselves, find a relationship with God, or who may be scared to take a leap into learning about Christianity, Islam, or any religion for that matter. From Pillars to Commandments: My Journey of Conversion will discuss my experiences growing up as a Black Muslim, the treatment I experienced from my Christian brothers and sisters, and losing faith in God. My journey will disclose personal trials and tribulations I experienced, finding spirituality, and most importantly finding my way back to God. This book also provides insight on how confusing religion can be, how we as humans have to do better with the way we treat one another despite our differences, and that no matter what God is there every step of the way. No matter how long it takes us to find Him, He is always there.
Queenie’s Review:
This book is a journey from Muslim to Christianity. The author gave it to us real, raw, and uncut. I truly understand a lot better. Religion is something that is scarce that’s why we don’t usually talk about it. I understand more of the author’s conversion. I like the writing style of the author and the questions at the end of the book. I was unaware of using both parent’s names. You learn something new every day. This was a very insightful journey and now I can comprehend both religions. I can’t wait to read more by this author. I give this book five stars. And yes we do have to do better to treat everyone with the love of God.
