Tell us about you.
I am a Louisiana native currently residing in North Texas. My career as a Licensed Professional Counselor has served as inspiration for my two contemporary fiction novels, “He Calls Her Blue” and “King, Duke, and Prince”. I also host an award-winning radio show, “The Authors Lounge”.
What book changed your life?
The book that changed my life was “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou.
How did this book impact your life?
It showed a view of rural black America that I have never seen depicted so vividly. I related to the characters and I was able to compare the book to the movie. It also inspired me to want to be a writer.
What lesson did you take from this book?
I began to understand why people made the decisions that they made especially when dealt with traumatic situations.
