Today I have the pleasure of having Author Jessica Vidart on my blog. Welcome Jessica.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am 35 yrs old. I live in Nashville TN now. I am married to my supportive wife. We have 3 kids. I am currently in school to get a degree in psychology. Really to help children with mental disabilities. I love traveling, mainly road trips.
What do you do when you are not wring?
If not at work, I am at the park walking. I also want to try yoga or Zumba.
Do you have a day job as well?
Yes, I do.
When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
I started writing in 2017. I had a lot going on but 2018 I finally finished my first book. Now I have more support and encouragement to keep me going to finish my book.
How did you choose the genre you write in?
Honestly, I feel like it chose me. When the ideas came to my mind and I write them down. No other genre was suitable for what I was wrong.
Where do you get your ideas?
Sometimes I get it from life events. Music also gives me ideas for book. For example, driving and listening to music gives me ideas for books.
Do you ever experience writer’s block?
I do experience writer’s block. I did for a long me I just couldn’t shake it.
Do you work with an outline, or just write?
I actually do both. I do outline my work, but I just start writing and can’t stop. So, I end up not following the outline exactly.
Is there any author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?
Growing up, my favorite book was and still is “The Coldest Winter Ever” By Sistah Souljah.
Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?
When finished with my first book I couldn’t find a publisher. I did not know how to self-publish. Then I was suggested to contact Coco Mixon of Creative Flow Publication. I did and she called me we talked went over how it works. She sent me a contract, when I signed to Creave Flow Publications. I was so thankful that she took a chance with me.
If you had to go back and do it all over, is there any aspect of your novel or going it published that you would change?
I think I would have looked for a publisher before I was finished with my book. But, I am good and happy with my Publisher Coco Mixon
How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre?
I promote over social media, now a days everyone is on social media. I have found that if the author’s support each other, we can gain more support and readers.
Have you written a book you love that you have not been able to get published?
I have not written a book yet that I felt I couldn’t publish. Everything I write, I want to share with the world.
Can you tell us about your upcoming book?
I am currently working on two. Living A Lie part 2 is one of them. The second is all in the works as we speak.
Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
There are some true experiences that I used in the book. Mostly, from my imagination.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
Honestly, my favorite part of the book is when the main character, finds her first love. Regardless has the support of the family.
How did you come up with the title?
I thought it would because a lot of people just live life they know they are lying to themselves.
What project are you working on now?
Me and the authors of Creative Flow Publications just finished and release an anthology on December 6th. Then I am just wrote so I can the Spanish my next books
Will you have a new book coming out soon?
My goal it to have one coming out January 2020. I am not sure yet but I will keep you posted.
