Book Release Date: 27 March 2019
This is the synopsis for the initial installment of my SUCCUBUS trilogy, entitled CURSED PLANTATION, a dark tale of privilege, retribution and darker justice set against the backdrop of slavery-era Louisiana.
Being trapped in the unfamiliar territory of Louisiana and forced into slavery was just the beginning of the horrific and degrading experiences young Giselle Morcheaux had to endure at the hands of her sadistic slavemaster John Weatherford. His cruelty and merciless treatment of Giselle and the others on his plantation Cottonwood only serves to betray his mask of genteel southern hospitality. His continued acts of wanton depravity inflicted upon Giselle unwittingly unleashes an evil and malevolent force beyond John’s comprehension that is hellbent on destruction, retribution and revenge.
Born in New Jersey, came to South Carolina at age 11. Graduated high school at 16, when I discovered my love for creative writing. Have published several poems during my 20’s and 30’s. Decided to write my first novel at age 50. Recently returned to Charlotte with the woman of my heart, where I am currently working at a hotel as its Assistant Manager.
What inspired you to write this book?
Being an avid reader inspired me to write. Reading great authors like Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul and Graham Masterton allowed me to use my imagination when it came to writing. In a high school project, I was given a picture to write a story about, and it was at this time I concluded I liked writing, getting my thoughts on paper. That desire to write extended to poetry, where I have had some of them published online. Then, about five years ago, I developed the idea that turned out to be my debut novel, CURSED PLANTATION; I discovered an outlet for the voices of my characters and I became a conduit for them to be heard.
What do you want readers to take from it?
I want my readers to enjoy the journey of reading my book, as I truly enjoyed writing it. I want my readers to gain a sense of justice for my protagonist and a sense of karma for my antagonist. You know what they say about payback; my tale is one of privilege, innocence lost and revenge (or justice…reader’s choice).
What is next for you?
I am currently in the process of writing the second installation of my trilogy, CURSED LEGACY, which takes place in New Orleans, circa 2010. I cannot go into too much detail, because it is a work in progress, but I will say that dark justice still prevails in this sequel and more information and history is given to the story.
