She served as keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Women Veterans Conference for the state of Massachusetts in May 2018, the annual gala of the Zeta Epsilon Graduate Chapter in Lawton, Oklahoma, Texas A&M San Antonio for MLK Jr. Dream Week 2017, and Baylor University during their Peer Leader Conference. Lila is the proud wife of a fellow Veteran, mother and grandmother. Her children are published authors as well. Lila’s 14-year-old daughter self-published three books and was a finalist for the IALA 2016 Youth Author of the Year award. Lila’s adult son self-published two books and has created a wonderful life for his family in Kansas.
