This was my first read from this author and it will not be my last. The story had me from the beginning to the end. It had me hooked from the first page. It was an emotional roller coaster and I really enjoyed the ride. I really didn’t want to put the book down but mommy duties calls.
Felicia was a full time stay-at-home mom of 3 small children and a part time actress. She had issues and a past that she didn’t want to resurface. Felicia needed to find balance and I felt her pain.
Preston was a self-centered and selfish husband who had a tight leash on his wife.
Felicia had a past that she didn’t want Preston to know. Their marriage was picture perfect from the outside though no one knew. Felicia wanted to have freedom and the “voice” told her so. She wanted to free from mommy and wife duties. But that one phone call could destroy it all.
The characters were well developed, unpredictable, and realistic. I could relate to Felicia very well. I like how Gran was a praying soul and was praying for the family. Crystal was just someone who just need a kick swift in the rear. Martin need to really get a life. Shayla was just clueless in life and it was always about her.
I love how the narrative of the storyline went smoothly and I could comprehend what was really going on always. The author made the chapters short and titled them. That made me want to continue reading when mommy duties were calling me. Overall, I just couldn’t put the book down so that’s why it took me so long to read.
The topics of this story is low esteem issues, adultery, mental illness, spousal abuse, and abandonment.
When I first seen the cover of Second House from the Corner, it caught my attention and I was hooked. When reading a book, I try to find a link from the title to the book. The title of the book symbolizes Felicia was raised in the second house from the corner with Gran and Crystal growing up. This was Felicia’s childhood home growing up.
I was so disappointed at the end of the story which was a cliffhanger that I could have choke the author. Lol! You got my nerves all tore up right now. Lol!
I recommend this book of motherhood and marriage. I am so glad I had gotten this book, and this will not be my last book from this amazing author. I give this book five stars. Can’t wait to read more by this author!
