So, you are just going to end the book just like that? Seriously? Belinda, you have done it again. This is your fifth book and I am loving it. I don’t know where to begin. First, I got hooked on the first page and couldn’t put it down. Then I had to start using sticky notes! LOL. When I realized I was half way finished I put the book down because I didn’t want it to end. So, after every chapter I would put it down and then I started to miss the characters, so I picked the book back up again.
This story is about a teenage girl Brook who falls for a jock named Serious. This book travels with their high school years until their adult life. Brook finds out that relationships and love are hard. She needs to find out is love worth fighting for when you have so many obstacles in your way.
As far as the title, (the theme of the book), you were right on point. I kept saying to myself and out loud Diamond IS something serious! What is wrong with that child?
I could relate to the characters in the book. The character development was great. The characters – Brook…Brook…Brook, what can I say about Brook? I felt sorry for her at times and other times I wanted to scream and slap her. Diamond was off the chain. She was crazy in love with Serious. I don’t know what Serious’ problem war. Just wanted his cake and eat it too. Aubri was no joke. She was a hell of a sister. I like how you made Cue, Uncle Eric, and DJ good black men that treated their wives great. I see Mercedes is still off her rocker. I can’t believe Keisha and she are still friends. WOW!
I love the scene at the Chop House. I didn’t see that coming that I was shocked and talking out loud to the book. You made scenes in the book seem like it was real. I felt like I was a part of the book. You had many twists and turns in the story. The storytelling was great, and I could relate. The story line was realistic and believable.
Belinda, I really feel connected and I felt like a part of the story. It didn’t feel like I was reading a book but like I was living in their lives. Thanks for a great five star read. Great author with star power!
